Jacksonville’s Mandarin neighborhood is getting a new deli focused on fresh bagels, smoked lox and pastrami.

Bell and Layton’s Delicatessen and Provisions is preparing to open at 10140 San Jose Boulevard, in the former Player’s Grille space.

The 5,094-square-foot shop is the project of business partners Brian Bell and Will Layton, who spent months looking for a location for the concept. The pair hope to bring back a style of deli dining that has been missing from Jacksonville since Worman’s Bakery and Deli closed in 2009, according to the Jacksonville Business Journal.

Bagels, smoked lox and brined pastrami are expected to be among the deli’s main offerings. The business also plans to expand beyond prepared food, with kosher and non-kosher groceries expected to be added at a later stage.

The new deli takes over a space previously occupied by Player’s Grille, giving the property a new purpose as a food destination in Mandarin.

Bell and Layton’s Delicatessen and Provisions is expected to open next month. Customers can follow the business on Instagram for updates on its opening and offerings.
