A new taco spot looks to be in the works Downtown.

This month, plans will go before the Las Vegas Planning Commission for a new bar and restaurant called Taco Escobar. Taco Escobar, a new concept from Las Vegas restaurateur Jeffrey Fine of LEV Group, would open at 509 Fremont St.

The documents submitted to the Planning Commission are for a special use permit to serve alcohol on the premises. A submitted justification letter says this is consistent with past uses for the location, “which was formerly a restaurant serving alcohol that has been closed for some time.”

The location previously housed The Smashed Pig Restaurant and is situated among popular nightlife spots like We All Scream, The Griffin, Lucky Day, and Park on Fremont.

Further details about the restaurant are not revealed in the paperwork, except that it’s expected to be open 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.

What Now reached out on Thursday to LEV Group CLO and partner Joe Cain to inquire further about plans for Taco Escobar. Cain was not immediately available for comment.
