Restaurants Temporarily Close in Los Angeles Amid Food Safety Issues
Food safety issues at restaurants are a matter of concern for Los Angeles County. Therefore, the Public Health Department conducts health inspections and takes action against violating outlets.
In one such inspection conducted on April 7, a Thai eatery and an American grill outlet were ordered to close. This is a temporary closure because of food safety violations. Once the restaurants implement corrective measures, they will be allowed to reopen.

Tho One Thai Eatery offers lunch and dinner to diners. As the restaurant failed the health inspection, vermin infestation was the main reason for closure, among other violations. The inspecting officer noticed that the restaurant did not have a valid food safety certification.
When the food contact surfaces were assessed, they were found to be unclean and were not sanitized. Additional violations were related to noncompliant good retail practices.
The plumbing at the outlet was not found to be in good condition. The officer instructed the installation or repair of backflow devices. Adequate ventilation and lighting are also needed throughout the facility. Nonfood contact surfaces, floors, and walls were not cleaned and repaired, as per the inspection report.
Sonsonate Grill

Sonsonate Grill is a famous American eatery that has multiple outlets throughout California. People love to relish food along with watching sports at this restaurant. However, vermin infestation became the reason for the restaurant to close.
The inspection report mentions that proper cooling methods were not being used by the food handlers. Even the hot and cold holding temperatures were not maintained. The officer observed unclean non-food contact surfaces. Unsanitary conditions of equipment, linen, and utensils were noted by the inspectors.
The restaurant has been asked to do vermin-proofing and proper sanitation of the premises. All food items, warewashing facilities, and equipment were required to be properly maintained and stored.
