The Tennessee Department of Health conducted a routine health inspection at Curry Bowl Indian Cuisine on April 24. During the inspection, the restaurant was cited for multiple health code violations.
Violations included food stored on the floor, stained ceiling tiles, and an unclean dishwashing area.

Curry Bowl Indian Cuisine serves Indian cuisine in Memphis. According to the inspection report, the violations included the following:
- The inspection report noted that the person in charge failed to monitor buffet food temperatures properly.
- Handwashing signs were missing at the kitchen sink area.
- Yogurt on the buffet line was measured at 54°F. The required temperature for yogurt is 41°F or below.
- The report also noted food items were not labeled. The staff was advised to label them properly.
- The facility had an open door, and the damaged door screen was noted during the inspection. These gaps could allow pests inside.

- The inspection observed that ready-to-eat food items were left uncovered.
- The restaurant staff was preparing food without hair restraints.
- Ready-to-eat food containers were stored directly on the floor inside the walk-in cooler.
- Food storage shelves were made of raw wood and lined with cardboard, making them difficult to clean.
- Clean pots and pans were not inverted, and the dishwashing area was dirty.
- The outside of the kitchen equipment was unclean.
- The report found the establishment’s floors were dirty, and the ceiling tiles were stained and required replacement.

Follow-up Inspection

Following the routine inspection, the restaurant received a low score of 77 for its unsanitary and food safety issues. The restaurant is required to correct all the violations before a reinspection is conducted.
