Comprising 78 acres of space, Doral Central Park is a developing public space that has already hosted special events like EGGstravaganza. As the park continues its development, the rollout has been split into two phases.
“The first phase of the park contains picnic pavilions, playgrounds, beach volleyball courts, multi-purpose fields, skatepark and pump track, as well as an open-air Amphitheater for community and large-scale events,” says the City of Doral website. “The lake also has a kayak launch and boardwalk. The second half of the park which includes an 80,000 SF Community Center, Aquatics Center, and meandering paved paths connecting tennis and basketball courts will open early 2025.”
That opening is still yet to come. Meanwhile, the upcoming community center in phase two will include another component not mentioned in the City of Doral’s description: a food and drink component. Melo Cafe, which will open at 3005 NW 92nd Ave., according to plan review paperwork filed by Melo House LLC, is also part of the project. What Now reached out on Wednesday to co-owner Melissa Bermudez to ask about plans for Melo Cafe’s launch.
“It’s going to be part of the bigger grand opening within the civic center,” said Bermudez.
Melo Cafe is expected to feature both indoor and outdoor seating, serving coffee, tea, and a menu of scratch-made food items ranging from hummus to baked goods, Bermudez added.
What Now is awaiting further details on Melo Cafe, so stay tuned, and keep an eye out for Phase 2 of Doral Central Park, launching soon.
