Buc-ee’s is set to break ground on its newest Tennessee travel center on October 14 at Interstate 24 and Joe B. Jackson Parkway in Murfreesboro. The project will become the company’s fourth location in the state, according to the Nashville Business Journal, which cited a Buc-ee’s news release.
The approximately 74,000-square-foot travel center will include 120 fuel positions and Buc-ee’s signature food offerings, including Texas barbecue, Beaver Nuggets, fudge, jerky and other grab-and-go favorites, the publication reported.
The new location is expected to create more than 250 full-time jobs. Gov. Bill Lee is also scheduled to attend the groundbreaking ceremony, according to the Nashville Business Journal, citing the governor’s public schedule.
“Murfreesboro has been a great partner to work with since we first visited,” Stan Beard, Buc-ee’s director of real estate and development, said in the company’s news release. “This community will be a welcome pitstop for folks traveling to and from Nashville and Atlanta and the Gulf Coast.”
Founded in Texas in 1982, Buc-ee’s now operates 54 travel centers across Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, according to the Nashville Business Journal.
The Murfreesboro store will join Buc-ee’s existing Tennessee locations in Crossville and Sevierville. Another travel center is under development in Gallaway, while the company withdrew plans for a proposed Clarksville location in 2023, according to the Nashville Business Journal.
