Anam Cara Irish Pub & Eatery is preparing to bring traditional Irish fare with a Louisiana twist to Covington when it opens later this summer.
The new restaurant, located at 70493 La. 21, Suite 800, is targeting a late August to early September opening, owner Brandie Wilcox told WhatNow Media Group.
While the name includes ‘Irish Pub’, Wilcox said the concept has been designed as a family-friendly restaurant that welcomes guests of all ages. “It’s a restaurant with a bar in it, it is for adults, children, people of all ages,” she said.
The menu will focus primarily on traditional Irish cuisine while incorporating Louisiana-inspired favorites. Wilcox said seasonal dishes will also make an appearance, including her award-winning gumbo during the cooler months.
“The food is going to be primarily Irish, but there’s gonna be some local things, pop of gumbo in the winter, of course. I’ve won awards for my gumbo in January, so it’s going to be pretty great.”
In addition to lunch and dinner service, Anam Cara Irish Pub and Eatery plans to offer Saturday brunch, giving customers another opportunity to experience the restaurant’s menu.
The restaurant is also expected to become a community gathering place, with live broadcasts for LSU and New Orleans Saints football games, as well as performances by local musicians. “We’re going to have live music with local bands, local Irish bands, among others,” Wilcox said.
