An elevated sports bar is continuing its expansion across New York City.

Stout, owned by Martin Whelan, will open at 373 Park Ave. S., marking its fifth New York City location. The sports bar also operates near Penn Station, Bryant Park, Grand Central and the Financial District.

“It’s on Park Ave. South, so it’s heavy corporate, and we love corporate. There’s plenty of nice restaurants, but no big bar that serves the area. Along with that, it straddles Gramercy, which is a residential neighborhood, so now we’re getting two worlds. We rarely get that,” Whelan told Whatnow New York City.

Beyond the demographics, the layout also stood out to the team.

“When you walk into a certain space, it can scream Stout, with the high, tall ceilings, big layout and double floors. That’s what it has to be, which this location has,” he said.

The vibe at the upcoming spot will remain the same, but the team tries to lean into each location’s unique character.

“This facade, we can’t touch because it’s an office building, but inside you’ll definitely know it’s a Stout, and we’ll have some newer, different things. It’ll have some unique aspect to it,” Whelan said.

The menu will mirror the offerings at its existing locations.

“Sometimes you lean into something that’s a hit in one area. It might not be a hit in another area, based on demographics, but basically the menus are the same,” he said.

The menu features shareable plates, burgers, handhelds and Wisconsin-style thin-crust pizza, including signature pies such as Hot Honey Pepperoni and Wild Mushroom. Whelan said his go-to order is the Oklahoma-style smash burger, made with American cheese, griddled onions, dill pickles and Stout sauce on a potato bun.

While Stout is best known for its curated beer selection, the bar also boasts a creative cocktail program.

Standout drinks include the “Holy Smokes,” made with Ilegal Mezcal, grapefruit juice, lime juice, grapefruit-lime syrup and grapefruit soda; the “Captain Nemo,” featuring Neversink Gin, pisco, St-Germain, lemon juice and blueberry-vanilla syrup; and the “Fox in the Box,” crafted with Casamigos Blanco, Giffard Passion Fruit Liqueur, lime, jalapeño simple syrup, basil and ginger beer.

Whelan is eager to grow the brand and said this likely won’t be its last expansion.

“We grow slowly, but we do hope to open a couple more Stouts,” he said.

The team plans to open the Park Ave. location in January 2027. Visit the Stout website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates.
