Jake’s Dilemma is closing its doors in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The sports bar has been a part of the community for over three decades. Its closure marks the end of a beloved chapter in the local nightlife scene.
Jake’s Dilemma Is Closing After 32 Years on the Upper West Side
Jake’s Dilemma has announced that it will be closing its doors on October 18. The longtime sports bar and pub has been a popular neighborhood spot over the years. It is located at 430 Amsterdam Avenue, between West 80th and 81st Streets, in Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
The pub announced the closure in a social media post and thanked the community for its support. In the post, the sports bar shared that it has lost its lease, which led to this decision. It also invites the community to visit the pub for “One Last Round” before its closure.
The post reads, “To everyone who has worked here, drank here, celebrated here, and made Jake’s part of their lives: thank you. We still have a little time left, so come have One Last Round with us before October 18.”
Local Customers React to Closure
Jake’s Dilemma offered sports viewing, late-night drinks, and a casual bar setting. The bar features an old-school pub setting with TVs for sports and games including beer pong and foosball.
The sports bar also features trivia and live music during the week, and DJs and a dance floor on weekends. It offers 19 draft beers and more than 35 bottled beers, including lagers, ales, and seasonal options. The menu offers typical casual bar fare, including wings, sliders, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, nachos, mozzarella sticks, and fries.
The news of Jake’s Dilemma’s closure has led to longtime customers expressing their emotions on social media. Some customers describe the closure as the end of an era in NYC’s nightlife scene.
A customer on Instagram wrote, “The way my mouth dropped. All of the places that make NYC, NYC for native NYers are closing left and right.”
Another customer recalled, “My fiancé and I came here after our very first date to keep the night going. This upcoming Saturday, we’re getting married. We’ll definitely be stopping by for one last hoorah before you close!”
Jake’s Dilemma will remain open through October 18. After the closure, the team will continue at The Gin Mill, which is located next door.
