The restaurant space at 929 Amsterdam Ave. is soon to open up as MalaTown

Westside Rag reported on new signage that went up at the location. This address was previously home to Grain House and before that Cafe Amsterdam.

MalaTown’s owner and CEO Yang Gao connected with What Now NY to share more about the restaurant’s plans.

According to Gao, there is enough seating in MalaTown for about 30 guests. He thinks the brand’s fresh food, diverse menu choices, and affordable prices will make it a good fit for the neighborhood.

Part of MalaTown’s mission is to provide guests with premium ingredients like wagyu beef and seafood. By empowering customers to select the ingredients that go into their bowl, MalaTown is trying to put a modern twist on traditional flavors.

A representative from MalaTown confirmed that this location in New York will be the brand’s fourth overall location. Other locations can be found in Las Vegas, Nevada; Union City, California; and soon Edison, New Jersey.

MalaTown is preparing to open its doors in the coming weeks. Gao thinks the Amsterdam Ave. location will open around May 20.
