A new Mediterranean destination called Cavalier is preparing to make its debut at 1 East Broadway, bringing a distinct dining option to the border of Chinatown.

Led by executive chef and partner Mason Lindahl, formerly of Diner in Brooklyn, the kitchen will provide a diverse array of Western and Eastern Mediterranean flavors. A robust selection of mezze will include orange-spiced olives, herbed sheep milk feta, and pine nut and currant-stuffed grape leaves. Heartier offerings include a signature lamb patty melt on marble rye, grilled whitefish skewers with spiced yogurt, and grilled lamb chops paired with black garlic tahini. To complement the food, the establishment is seeking a wine, beer, and cider license.

According to documents filed with Community Board 3, ownership plans to transform a former boba tea shop into a low-impact neighborhood restaurant that focuses on a calm, sit-down atmosphere. What Now New York has reached out for more information.
