This fall is a big year for a New York-based sports company.
Block Golf is a new concept that is launching across NYC this year, including at 335 E 27th Street in Kips Bay. It comes from PingPod, a company specializing in ping pong. This location is set to open Oct. 3, and will be followed by other golf facilities in the Upper West Side, East Village and Fort Lee, New Jersey.
The concept was created as a more affordable option for golfing that fits into smaller storefronts. The facility will include golf simulators, as well as a replay feature at the bays so players can perfect their craft.
“Golf has a way of pulling you in, but getting better requires repetition, and in New York, finding the time and space to practice consistently isn’t easy,” said David Silberman, Co-Founder & Co-CEO of PingPod Inc. in a press release. “We built Block Golf to make it easier for golfers to stay close to the game, whether that means practicing their swing before work, taking a lesson when they have an extra hour or getting a round in between trips to the course.”
PingPod operates ping pong facilities across the country, in metros including Boston, Chicago, Miami, Phoenix and even Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The company already has a major presence around New York, with seven locations in NYC alone.
The building is on the east side of Mt. Carmel Place, across from NYC Health + Hospitals / Bellevue. This is just north of East Village, in a mainly residential area of the city. The 28th Street subway station is only a few blocks from the storefront.
