Known for its popular smoothies and bowls, Tropical Smoothie Cafe has built a considerable footprint in the Sunshine State, where it has more than 200 locations, and now a new franchisee is preparing to bring the brand to Sebastian, where it will open at 13403 US-1.

“We’re looking at November or December,” first-time franchisee Katrina Strand told What Now on Friday. That’s only a few months away, but Strand’s journey with Tropical Smoothie Cafe began when she first encountered the brand about 15 years ago. Last year, she decided to take the step of becoming a franchisee.

“It’s my very first location, transitioning from 31 years in the Department of Defense,” Strand said. “The area we’re opening in is a little more rural, so there aren’t a lot of big brands in the area. It’s something that’s going to be great for the community. We’re also situated next to a hospital, which is what I was looking for. Just like in the military, you’re looking at short lunch breaks. I wanted to make sure I was offering something for that kind of working-class community that I live in.”

At Tropical Smoothie Cafe, you’ll be able to enjoy a wide range of smoothies, bowls, and light bites. Currently featured items on the menu include the How Far You’ll Mango Smoothie (mango, pineapple & guava), the Hawaiian Island Flat (grilled chicken, Hawaiian BBQ sauce, cheddar, mozzarella, queso blanco & crispy fried onions on a toasted flatbread), and the Watermelon Mojito Smoothie (fresh watermelon, fresh mint, strawberries & lime).

Strand’s favorite item on the menu? The Mango Magic, made with mango, pineapple & non-fat yogurt.

“I’ve been getting it on a weekly basis,” Strand says.

Keep an eye out for Tropical Smoothie Cafe opening later this year!
