Jersey Mike’s Subs is growing its presence across the greater Philadelphia area.
The sub shop will open its newest location this fall at Bethlehem Square, with franchise owner Gerrit Curran leading the operation.
A company spokesperson told Whatnow Philadelphia Curran chose the location to help “close the gap” between his existing Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants in Bethlehem and Easton.
The new location will feature the brand’s signature design and serve its full menu of hot and cold subs.
Standout menu items include the “Jersey Shore’s Favorite,” made with provolone, ham and cappacuolo; the “Big Kahuna Chicken Cheese Steak,” topped with grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms, jalapeños and extra white American cheese; and the chicken salad sub, which earned praise from entrepreneur, reality TV personality and self-proclaimed chicken salad enthusiast Bethenny Frankel.
Customers can order any sandwich “Mike’s Way,” topped with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, an olive oil blend, red wine vinegar and spices.
“We’re all about making sure the food tastes good and it’s getting out to the customer on time,” the spokesperson said.
Jersey Mike’s Subs got its start in 1956 as a family-run submarine sandwich shop on the boardwalk of the Jersey Shore. In 1975, 17-year-old Peter Cancro, who worked at the original Mike’s, bought the business with a loan from his football coach after learning the owner planned to sell. Cancro remains the company’s CEO today, overseeing more than 3,000 locations nationwide.
The sub shop also recently surpassed Chick-fil-A for the highest customer service rating among the nation’s quick-service restaurants, ending Chick-fil-A’s decade-long run at the top.
The team is partnering with a local Lehigh Valley school for the grand opening fundraiser.
“Our brand ties to the community. It’s just who we are as a restaurant and as people. We usually raise well over two thousand dollars for each of our openings, which is all credited to the community,” the spokesperson said.
Jersey Mike’s Subs also distributes free sub coupons during its first two days of business to further introduce the new location.
“Every time you walk into a Jersey Mike’s, we always train our crew that we are there to share our lives with customers and try to make their day better, even if it’s just the five minutes they’re in the restaurant or picking up a mobile order,” they said.
The new Bethlehem location targets an October opening. Visit the Jersey Mike’s Subs website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates.
