Desert Botanical Garden is preparing to open Quail House Coffee & Creamery this fall at 1201 N. Galvin Parkway in Phoenix, according to an announcement from the garden. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.
Located just beyond the admissions gate, the new café will serve coffee, tea, gelato, and grab-and-go bites in a newly constructed space designed for visitors looking to stop for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon treat while exploring the garden.
Quail House will be operated in partnership with chef and restaurateur Mark Tarbell, who also oversees Gertrude’s by Tarbell’s and Patio Café at the Desert Botanical Garden.
A James Beard Award nominee and Iron Chef America winner, Tarbell has spent decades shaping Arizona’s dining scene through restaurants, wine bars, airport concepts, and catering operations across the Valley.
Quail House takes its name from the Gambel’s quail, one of the Sonoran Desert’s most recognizable birds. The concept is intended to offer a casual gathering place where guests can enjoy locally inspired food and beverages before or after exploring the garden.
The project was made possible through support from the T.W. Lewis Foundation, which has helped fund several visitor amenities at the Desert Botanical Garden over the years.
Additional details about Quail House Coffee & Creamery, including its full menu and official opening date, are expected to be announced in the coming months.
