Slab City Bar & Grill is preparing to open near University Drive and Mill Avenue in downtown Tempe, according to the Downtown Tempe Authority. An opening date has not been announced.

The concept will serve grass-fed burgers and steaks cooked and fried in 100% beef tallow, along with beer, wine, and cocktails. A recent Instagram post described the restaurant as community-focused and built around an old-fashioned cooking style.

Slab City is the new venture from Tempe restaurateur Scott Price, whose other local projects include C.A.S.A. and the upcoming Republic Tempe. Republic is also planned for Mill Avenue and is expected to combine live music, a sports bar, and a revived neighborhood pool hall.

Few details about Slab City’s menu, exact address, or opening timeline have been released. What Now Phoenix reached out to Slab City Bar & Grill and will update this story as more information becomes available.
