A Sacramento original, Cakes by Jeff the Chef has announced its permanent closure. Founded by Chef Jeff Taylor, the bakery will close its physical brick-and-mortar storefront on July 31. The closure announcement was shared on social media with a video message to the community.
Cakes by Jeff the Chef to Close Sacramento Storefront
Known for participating in Sugar Showdown on The Food Network show, Chef Jeff established Cakes by Jeff the Chef a decade ago. The bakery built its loyal following with over 30 varieties of cheesecakes. Menu offerings included peach cobbler cheesecake, banana pudding cheesecake, and strawberry twist cheesecake.
The cake shop began its journey as a pop-up shop in the Midtown Farmers Market. The bakery opened its storefront at 405 K St. #210 in Sacramento in 2023.
In the social media closure announcement, the bakery owner shared that July 31 will be the last day of service. He thanked the community and loyal customers for their continued support.
He noted, “I want to sincerely thank every customer who has supported my business over the years, whether you stopped in for a slice or a cheesecake for a special occasion, recommended us to a friend, or simply shared kind words.”
Talking about its long journey, the owner mentioned, “We’ve created so many amazing memories together, from celebrating birthdays and weddings to earning multiple California State Fair awards and being featured on local and national television.”

Reason Behind the Closure
According to the official announcement, the owner of the bakery has decided not to renew the lease for the property. However, with a positive tone, the owner added that this is just the closure of the physical store and not the end of the story of Cakes by Jeff the Chef.
“I’m excited about what the future holds and look forward to sharing what’s next with all of you,” added the owner.
The owner encouraged the community to visit the bakery and have their favorite cheesecake before it permanently says goodbye.
