A popular quick-service dining chain is expanding to Elk Grove.

Shake Shack Inc. has secured a 2,880-square-foot space at The Village, a Whole Foods-anchored shopping center under development at the intersection of Elk Grove Blvd and Big Horn Blvd. The new eatery will include an outdoor patio area, according to an earlier report from Sacramento Business Journal.

Shake Shack was founded as a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park before evolving into a permanent fixture in 2004. The brand is now recognized for its Angus beef burgers—particularly the ShackBurger—along with its crispy, crinkle-cut fries and creamy, hand-spun milkshakes.

The upcoming Elk Grove outpost will mark Shake Shack’s fourth Sacramento-area location, joining existing spots in Midtown Sacramento’s Ice Blocks, Roseville’s Westfield Galleria, and Folsom’s Palladio shopping center.

Once it debuts later this year, The Village will feature over 100,000 square feet of retail space, with tenants including Mendocino Farms, Yard House, and Philz Coffee. Construction on the development began in 2024 and is slated for completion by mid-2025. Tenants will begin their renovations and open soon after.

An official opening date for Shake Shack has not been announced, so stay tuned for updates.
