Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is embarking on its big Alamo City debut, and the scoops may be available just in time for summer. According to a recently filed permit, the scoop shop is anticipated to open at 15900 La Cantera Parkway, Suite 7751.
The permit details that an existing food and beverage kiosk will be renovated to align with the 190-square-foot shop that Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams plans to open. Construction is slated to start at the beginning of April and wrap up before the end of May this year. If all goes well, we can expect Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams to start dishing out scoops out of its new spot at The Shop at La Contera by this summer.
The brand announced the San Antonio expansion on social media. Maddie Warn is listed as the tenant on the permit. What Now San Antonio reached out to Warn, who responded but wasn’t able to share further details by the time of this publication.
“We build ice creams completely from scratch using a unique recipe honed and perfected over more than 20 years by our founder, Jeni Britton,” the Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams website details.
“Our ice creams have a uniquely smooth texture and buttercream body, with bright flavor and clean finish. We’re here to set new standards for ice cream classics and to create our own. At Jeni’s, you’ll find flavors inspired by our curiosities—art, history, pop culture, and beyond—that simply don’t exist anywhere else.”
The VP of Real Estate and Construction for the brand is Dan Basto. What Now San Antonio also reached out to Basto to try to find out more details about this upcoming sweets shop opening for our readers, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
Britton started the brand in Columbus, Ohio, in 2002. There are now more than 85 Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams scoop shops across 15 states, including Texas and the District of Columbia.
“We make ice cream to bring people together,” the website reads.
“It’s our reason for being, and we operate as a community—in partnership with the growers, makers, and producers who supply us with ingredients.”
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams offers a variety of one-of-a-kind flavors like the Earl Grey Creme Brulee, the Queen Charlotte Sponge Cake, and the Tropical Bloom.
