Cavender’s is preparing to renovate a large retail space at The Rim in San Antonio, according to a recently filed project document with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The project is planned at 5819 Worth Parkway in Bexar County, where the western-wear retailer will occupy a 28,242-square-foot space. Documents indicate the work will consist of a substantial renovation of an existing mercantile building.

Founded in 1965 in Pittsburg, Texas, Cavender’s has grown into one of the nation’s largest western wear retailers. The company is known for offering cowboy boots, hats, jeans, workwear, accessories, and apparel from brands including Ariat, Wrangler, Cinch, and many others.

Today, Cavender’s operates dozens of locations across the United States, serving customers seeking western-inspired fashion and workwear.

According to project filings, the renovation will include new floor and wall finishes, updated exterior signage and décor, new fixtures, demolition of existing partitions, and the construction of new walls. Existing utility systems are expected to remain in place.

Construction is scheduled to begin on June 29, 2026, and is expected to be completed by September 26, 2026. The project carries an estimated construction cost of $1.55 million and is privately funded.

Project records identify BVA Kim Rim SPE, LLC ET AL as the property owner. Cleveland-based Nelson Worldwide is serving as the design firm for the renovation.

Located within The Rim, one of San Antonio’s premier shopping destinations, the updated Cavender’s store is expected to enhance the retailer’s presence in the market while providing shoppers with an expanded western wear and lifestyle shopping experience.

What Now San Antonio reached out for comment regarding the project, but did not receive a response at the time of publication.  This article will be updated if additional information becomes available.
