Two Ducks, an underground fine-dining experience that blends French technique with Southern California and Mexican flavors, is preparing to move from its recurring pop-up format to a permanent location in San Diego.
The concept is led by restaurateur brothers Danny and Dante Romero, who have spent the past few years consulting at places including Una Mas and took over The Lion’s Share last summer, according to San Diego Magazine. The brothers recently decided to pause the recurring Two Ducks pop-up while they work toward a permanent home for the concept. Two seatings remain in September, followed by one final dinner.
In an Instagram post announcing the change, the Two Ducks team reflected on how the concept grew from an idea into something real because customers filled the seats, shared the dinners, and believed in what the team was building. The post said the support has allowed Two Ducks to take its next step and work toward “what we’ve always wanted: a permanent home of our own.” The team also made clear that the end of the pop-up format is not the end of Two Ducks.
Two Ducks describes itself as an underground fine dining experience focused on great food and exceptional service. The company’s goal is to bring its favorite elements of fine dining to everyone while removing parts of the experience that can feel artificial. The concept combines refined food and presentation with an approach that the company says is fun, whimsical, and engaging.
The menu brings classic French technique together with Southern California and Mexican flavors. Two Ducks lists its cuisine as Southern Californian, Mexican, and French, while its website emphasizes an approachable take on fine dining. For now, customers can attend the remaining September dinners before Two Ducks moves on from its current format.
The company shared the following message on Instagram: “What started as an idea became something real because you filled the seats, shared the dinners, and believed in what we were building. For that, we are forever grateful. Now, it’s time for Two Ducks to take its next leap. We’re saying goodbye to the pop-up format as we begin working toward what we’ve always wanted: a permanent home of our own. But we’re not done just yet. Two seatings remain in September, with one final dinner to follow. Come take a seat while you still can. Goodbye, for now.”
