Several notable restaurants, including Chez TJ and Eat Americana, have closed their doors this month.

A number of Bay Area restaurants closed their doors in April 2026. Former Michelin-starred restaurant Chez TJ and two other Bay Area eateries also shut down during the month.

Popular San Francisco Eateries Close in April 2026

In April, San Francisco saw several restaurant closures across the city. The closures included both long-running restaurants and smaller neighborhood establishments.

Juice House Co.

On April 4, 2026, Juice House Co. permanently closed all of its locations in San Francisco. Tiana Duvauchelle, founder of the juice brand, shared the closure announcement on social media. The menu included cold-pressed juices, kombucha, and other plant-based beverages.

The company initially started its journey in a local yoga studio. The brand later expanded to multiple locations, including a storefront at San Francisco’s Ferry Building.

Eat Americana

The Outer Richmond neighborhood’s Eat Americana, a local favorite diner, also shut down. The restaurant closed on April 12 after three decades in operation. The menu featured hearty American breakfasts and comfort food staples.

In a social media post, the diner team explained that the owner, Tony Lai, was retiring due to health concerns. The team said, “While it is difficult to say goodbye to a place that holds three decades of memories, we know it is the right time to begin this new chapter.”

Chez TJ

Chez TJ officially closed its doors in April, marking the end of its 43 years of service. It was housed in a historic Victorian home on Villa Street, built in 1894.

It offered French cuisine with an upscale dining experience. The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star for 19 years in a row.

The team shared, “After more than four decades of welcoming guests into our historic Victorian home, Chez TJ will be closing its doors.”

According to an Eater report, Eat Americana served its final meal on April 14, 2026.

All these closures left a significant gap in the heart of the Bay Area dining community. Each restaurant leaves behind a long-standing presence in the Bay Area dining scene.
