A family-owned dim sum staple in San Francisco has announced its closure. Yank Sing will close its Rincon Center location this weekend after 27 years. Its sister location on Stevenson Street will remain open.
Yank Sing to Close Rincon Center Location
In a social media announcement, the restaurant team shared the closure news. The team stated that Yank Sing, located at 101 Spear Street in San Francisco, will be closing its doors. After 27 years of service, the Rincon Center restaurant will serve its final dinner on September 20, 2026.
The team thanked the community and customers for their support and said, “From grand celebrations to casual weekday lunches, this location has been home to countless memories, and we’re grateful for every guest who’s shared a meal, a milestone, or a favorite dish with us here.”
After learning about the closure, one customer commented, “I’m so glad we went on our last trip to SF in June. So sad, this is our favorite restaurant in SF.”

Stevenson Street Location Remains Open
While the Rincon Center location is bidding farewell, the legacy of Yank Sing will continue at its 52-year-old sister location on Stevenson Street. Yank Sing, situated at 49 Stevenson St, San Francisco, will serve the community with the same flavors and hospitality.
The Stevenson Street location was opened in February 1974 and was originally located at 53 Stevenson Street. In 1990, the restaurant was moved to 49 Stevenson Street due to the renovation of the old building.
The team also encouraged customers to visit the Stevenson Street location and added, “Yank Sing isn’t going anywhere. We’re inviting you to join us at our Stevenson Street location. Same beloved cart service, with both indoor and outdoor seating.”
George and Alice Chan founded the dim sum restaurant chain in 1958. Over the 70 years of business, the chain has built its reputation as a high-end dim sum destination with its old-school tradition and authentic flavors.
The business has operated multiple locations in San Francisco. The restaurant chain is currently operated by Vera Chan Waller and Nathan Waller.
The team looks forward to hosting customers at its Stevenson Street location.
