MoonBeem’s Thai’ish Cafe is preparing to open at 1386 SE Lund Ave., Suite 110, in Port Orchard, according to a license application filed with the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board.
The filing names Napak Byford and Donovan Len Byford and identifies Tapatios Mexican Grill & Cantina as the former business at the address MoonBeem’s is taking. Tapatios permanently closed its Port Orchard location on August 8.
Posts on MoonBeem’s Facebook page show that the business previously served customers from a food truck. An August update announced plans for the Port Orchard restaurant and previewed dishes including pad Thai, pad kra pao, tom yum, green curry, som tum, and mango sticky rice.
MoonBeem’s recently held a private blessing ceremony inside the future restaurant. Three monks from Wat Washington Buddhavanaram visited the space for the ceremony, which the business described as a Thai tradition observed before opening a new home or business.
The restaurant clarified that the gathering was not an opening event. MoonBeem’s remains closed while the team waits for permits and licenses. An opening date has not yet been announced.
