Bollywood Masala can claim 10 years and countless satisfied customers in La Plata, but change is on the horizon for the venerable Maryland favorite. The restaurant is packing up its kitchen and moving operations to a new Waldorf home-but fans needn’t worry, the eatery is continuing operations during the relocation.

Bollywood Masala is moving from its current home at 120 Rosewick Road to a similarly sized storefront at 3804 Crain Highway. While owners Rajat and Punita Malhotra did not initially intend to relocate-complications and difficulties around their La Plata lease necessitated this new era-the duo are taking the opportunity to grow in this next chapter. Rajat kindly explained to What Now DC what, precisely that will mean.

Future Bollywood Masala Waldorf customers will be able to enjoy the same dishes that made the restaurant so beloved, but the Malhotras are expanding their offerings as well. “We’re adding some specials and some new cocktails.” Rajat says. “We will continue to carry all the menu that we currently have and we will be adding some new items as well.”

In addition to allowing Bollywood Masala to continue to serve the customer base it’s built over the years, the new location will offer the restaurant greater visibility and more opportunities to feed hungry guests. Rajat explains: “We wanted to be somewhere between Waldorf and La Plata to cater to our existing clientele. It’s right up on 301, we like that fact. We’ve been at the La Plata location for 10 years and we still get people who say ‘we didn’t even know you were here’. We hope this will help us spread the word.”

Bollywood Masala will be ready to launch its new location relatively soon; Rajat states: “We are almost done with our inspections, so we are hoping we will be open within the first week of June.”
