With the new year will come a new home for Naperville’s Texas Roadhouse, the City of Aurora announced on November 7th.

“Texas Roadhouse IS MOVING FROM NAPERVILLE TO AURORA and is set to open in February 2022,” reads a post across social media channels from the city. “A new restaurant is currently being constructed at 986 N. Route 59 (the former lot of Sweet Tomatoes restaurant.”

As alarming as the news might sound to fans of the eatery, the move only puts Texas Roadhouse about a mile from its original Naperville home. Commenters on the City’s post speculate increased size and parking is part of the motivation for the move.

Texas Roadhouse is a national chain that has been in operation since Kent Taylor opened the first restaurant in Clarksville, Indiana in 1993. Since then, the brand has become famous for its honey cinnamon butter, fresh-baked rolls, and line dancing servers. Or perhaps the chain is most known for the peanut shells found scattered across its floors. Regardless, the family restaurant “likes to brag” about its hand-cut steaks, fall-of-the-bone ribs, and made-from-scratch sides.

The City of Aurora shares the new site will be 8,000 square-feet in size. That’s a whole lot of floor for a whole lot of peanut shells.

Although What Now Chicago reached out to the Naperville location, we did not hear back at the time of publication, so how exactly the transition will occur is not yet clear.

We suggest you follow Texas Roadhouse Naperville on social media to remain up-to-date on the details.

  • Great news! It is a royal hassle to pkg up fidgety toddlers for a restaurant experience in a noisy environment. Hopefully they will join forces with a reputable delivery service. I had asked the at the Npvl location several times over the past, 2yrs with a, “nope” response.
