Reston is losing a Starbucks, but residents needn’t mourn the loss of good coffee and delicious pastries. Roggenart Bakery Cafe and Bistro is bringing a uniquely European cafe experience to the region, reports local media outlet FFXNow.

The expanding concept is moving into Starbucks’ old home at 12130A Sunset Hills Road, but not before some alterations are completed. An application was submitted to Fairfax County on October 14 to allow interior renovations to the building.

An opening date is not currently set for Roggenart’s new Reston home.

Neman Popov first launched Roggenart in Maryland in 2017. The concept currently has 8 locations spread across Maryland, Illinois, and Virginia-though for the time being, the concentration is heavily in Maryland’s favor.

Roggenart has earned a devoted fanbase through its delicious, scratch-made treats. While each cafe’s fare differs slightly, guests can look forward to sampling tasty dishes including breakfast sandwiches, pastries, quiches, pressed sandwiches, soups, and desserts.

The cafe is passionate about its cuisine, a sentiment it establishes clearly on its website, stating: “For us, creating doughs and food with the simplest ingredients like flour, water and yeast is magic, art and passion. Food is not only about highest quality ingredients; that’s only the beginning. Food and baking is the art of life; it is about flavors of life, freshness, emotion, friendship, comfort, enjoyment. We believe that true quality is finding a balance in everything.”
