A DC institution will be enjoying a full circle moment this winter. Dolcezza Gelato is opening a new location in Georgetown-the neighborhood where it first began scooping-when the weather turns cold, bringing a little sweetness to the shorter, frigid days, reports local media outlet PoPville.

Dolcezza is taking over the 1300 Wisconsin Ave, NW storefront that housed a Pressed Juicery until its closure earlier this summer. This new Georgetown location will be the sweet chain’s seventh DMV home. Ownership projects that the store will be customer-ready this coming winter, in late 2026 or early 2027.

Dolcezza cut its teeth in Georgetown in a 300 square foot storefront in 2004. After outgrowing the space, the concept relocated to Union Market, making this upcoming Georgetown location a triumphant return to Dolcezza’s roots.

Georgetown foodies are certain to celebrate Dolcezza’s return; the gelateria is among the most lauded in the country, earning accolades from Saveur, Bon Appetit, Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Zagat, Trip Advisor, and Washingtonian.

Founded by Violeta Edelman and Robb Duncan, Dolcezza’s reputation is well-earned, thanks to the care it takes in crafting it’s treats. The website explains the process, saying: “We produce small batches of hand-made gelato every morning in our expansive Gelato Factory & Coffee Lab in the Union Market neighborhood, using the best available ingredients: local fruits, herbs, nuts, cheese, milk and cream. Combining old-world methods and a curiosity for innovation, we craft an exquisite gelato with a conscience.”
