New American seafood specialist Bluestone in Evanston, at 1932 Central St., is changing owners after several years.
Previously, former owners, John and Jennifer Enright opened the restaurant in 2001. Now, the company has been sold to a new owner: Pat Fowler, who also owns Firehouse Grill on Chicago Ave. An employee at Bluestone tells Evanston Now that Fowler plans to keep the Bluestone name, but he may tweak the menu and décor a bit. Still, loyal customers can expect a menu that features fresh ingredients and affordable prices. Hopefully, Fowler will keep the sizzling burgers, paper-thin pizza, smoked wings, and the legendary key lime pie.
No matter how much Fowler plans to change this beloved neighborhood restaurant, Bluestone will remain an excellent spot for sports, specifically high school and college football. National holidays are another great reason to visit, as the owners have always taken pride in their holiday parties. Earlier this year, the restaurant updated its hours to open at 11:30 am daily for lunch.
Bluestone isn’t the only restaurant facing changes in Evanston. According to Evanston Now, Salud Kitchen has been approved for a liquor license for a new restaurant on Clark Street. El Pueblito, which already has an operating location on Howard Street, has also been approved for a new liquor license. Finally, Amy Morton has decided to close Found on Chicago Avenue after a decade. After her landlord chose not to renew the license, she will be opening a new restaurant around the corner in the former home of Kinship/Next of Kin Restaurant.
