Steve Ugur, co-founder of Pausa Bar & Cookery — a San Mateo restaurant that has been awarded as Bib Gourmand five times since it began serving in 2018 — is planning to debut a new concept in Palo Alto.

Sekoya Lounge & Kitchen is coming to 417 California Avenue — where it will neighbor establishments such as Joanie’s Cafe, Kali Greek Kitchen, and Lotus Thai Bistro.

On the menu, expect “California-inspired shareable plates with a global influence,” according to Eater. Think plates such as Spanish octopus skewers, ribeye steak, beef tongue skewers, grilled quail, roasted whole sea bream, double-fried tempura mushrooms, and Parker House rolls coated in spiced togarashi and brown sugar.

Heading the kitchen will be Chef Jason Johnson of Bay Area restaurants Wayfare Tavern and Quince, and Erik Rivera of the Dry Creek Grill in San Jose is developing the beverage program.

Sekoya Lounge & Kitchen is slated to open before September.

What Now San Francisco reached out to Ugur to inquire about the upcoming eatery, but he could not provide further information before publication — stay tuned for additional updates.
