Chef Carlos Altamirano — the awarded restaurateur behind Bay Area eateries such as La Costanera, Mochica, and Piqueos — is planning to debut a new concept in San Francisco’s North of Panhandle neighborhood.
According to a recently filed license application, the eatery will be called Altamirano and is coming to 1775 Fulton Street — where it will neighbor establishments such as Bistro Central Parc, Bistro Gambrinus, and Papalote Mexican Grill.
Co-Owner Shu Dai tells What Now San Francisco, “The restaurant is currently under construction,” but that she and Chef Altamirano are hoping to open the establishment “early next year.”
Menu specifics are still a mystery, but if the upcoming eatery follows in the footsteps of the chef’s existing operations, locals can expect a wide selection of innovative Peruvian cuisine.
For readers who are unfamiliar with La Costanera, Chef Altamirano’s Michelin-starred eatery in Half Moon Bay, the upscale, oceanfront restaurant is known for its modern Peruvian fusion plates such as Peruvian-style paella cooked in shrimp broth, stir-fried beef tenderloin, and grilled lamb chops.
