A brand new Mediterranean and American restaurant, Truva, is getting ready to debut in Downtown San Diego, located at 140 W Broadway.

The new restaurant will open in the former home of Currant American Bistro, which closed during the pandemic. Owner Meliha Karahan tells What Now San Diego that Truva is expected to open around the end of January or February, considering they are undergoing some remodeling and waiting on permits. This will be a brunch and dinner spot, serving Mediterranean and American food with a full bar, and we will be serving mimosas, bloody marys, craft cocktails, and fresh juices.

This will be an excellent location for this restaurant’s debut, between The Sofia Hotel and The Bristol Hotel, with Tender Greens next door. With a handful of theaters, such as Spreckels Theatre and Balboa Theatre, a few blocks away, Truva will be an excellent option for delicious Mediterranean food. While this will be a great site for the restaurant because of the foot traffic from surrounding businesses, the restaurant will have to compete with CAVA as the area’s best Mediterranean option.

Despite the competition, this will be a refreshing new face for the space, which has been vacant for several years. Current American Brasserie was a French cafe focused on breakfast and brunch options since it opened in 2007. Now, the space will transition to a Mediterranean option. Truva will have everything for a delicious Mediterranean brunch or dinner, with a little something for everyone.
