Sizzle Shack Burgers, a family-owned smash burger restaurant, is getting ready to open a new location in La Mesa at 6062 Lake Murray Blvd, Suite 201.
The company’s second location is set to move into the former home of Izakaya Maize, according to documents submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. The new restaurant is expected to open by the beginning of September, according to co-owner Jacob Samaan, who tells What Now San Diego that the business is expanding after strong demand at its first location in El Cajon. Customers can expect fresh ground Angus beef burgers, fries, shakes, breakfast items, and other fast casual offerings.
Sizzle Shack Burgers was founded by Jacob Samaan and his father, Mike Samaan, after both brought years of restaurant experience to the concept. Mike Samaan has spent 25 years in the restaurant industry, while Jacob previously worked as a shift manager at Jack in the Box. Together, they developed a menu focused on smash burgers using premium cuts of beef, including chuck and brisket, along with house-made sauces.
The company currently operates its first location at 8575 Los Coches Road in El Cajon, where it serves burgers, breakfast sandwiches, fries, milkshakes, and other casual dining options. The La Mesa restaurant will mark the brand’s second location as the family continues expanding throughout San Diego County. The new location will bring the concept to another East County community.
The menu centers around smashed Angus beef burgers that are ground in-house daily. Signature options include the Sizzle Burger with grilled onions, American cheese, pickles, and house-made Sizzle sauce, along with the California Burger featuring bacon, cheddar cheese, avocado, lettuce, and tomato. Customers can also order options like the BBQ Bacon Burger, Jalapeño Popper Burger, chicken sandwich, and smashed falafel.
Beyond burgers, Sizzle Shack offers breakfast sandwiches, loaded fries, onion rings, tater tots, cookies, and milkshakes in chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors. The restaurant also provides catering services and focuses on offering affordable meals in a family-friendly setting. This will be an excellent landing space for Sizzle Shack Burgers as the company continues growing its local presence.
