A little more than a year after it opened along Madison Avenue, Cinico is ready to expand.

The Italian spot will head to the West Village at 1 Jane Street, taking over a 595-square-foot space in the six-story building, according to filed paperwork. There will be six tables and 16 seats, as well as one bar that seats eight.

The brand is inspired by co-owner Ben Hamilton’s time in Italy, where he met his business partner. The entire concept is Italian-focused. The new spot, like the first location, will feature Venetian cuisine. Menu items will include dishes like risotto and lasagna. However, this spot will have a stronger focus on cicchetti — Venetian-style small plates and bar food.

“We believe there is a need in New York City for what we do,” Hamilton said. “We’re a hybrid. We’re neither a restaurant nor a coffee shop nor a cocktail bar nor a wine bar. We’re a little bit of everything. The West Village is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in New York City, and we feel that what we have to offer will be appropriate for that neighborhood.”

The aesthetic will be Italian, featuring furnishings that are assembled in Italy and shipped to New York City. The walls will be painted with a Venetian plaster, with an emphasis on a gold and dark gray color scheme. The bar will feature gold brass finishes.

Hamilton said the new location will have some differences from the first location. Designed to be more nighttime-focused, it will have hours from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and extended hours to midnight on Friday and Saturday. The first location, which is more daytime-focused, is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the summer and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the winter.

Hamilton said they are about to enter the permitting process and are aiming for a mid-December opening.

“I would love the community to know that we are super enthusiastic at the idea of becoming part of that neighborhood,” Hamilton said. “My partner and I are not the typical owners that open a spot and are never there. We live for our businesses, so we are going to be there all the time and we can’t wait to make relationships with the whole neighborhood.”
