Electric Burrito, a California-style eatery, is set to open a second outpost in Chelsea. An opening date has not been announced yet.

Alex Thaboua and Will Wyatt debuted their flagship store in the East Village in 2021 in the space formerly occupied by Pizza Italia. The shop is known for its Southern California-style burritos including Thaboua’s specialty hometown San Diego burrito stuffed with french fries, slathered in refried beans and wrapped in a tortilla. The two California kids met while Thaboua was working as general manager at Wyatt’s cocktail bar Mister Paradise in the East Village. The two ventured off in hopes of bringing their home state burrito to their new home in the city that never sleeps.

“The burrito culture here can feel like an afterthought,” Thaboua told Eater in 2021. “You have all the ingredients to make amazing tacos. Why not throw in some rice and beans, add some meat, wrap it in a bigger tortilla, and call it a burrito?”
