A reformer Pilates studio is stretching its Manhattan footprint.
JETSET Modern Pilates will open its newest studio at 559 W. 59th St. near Columbus Circle, with franchise owners Justin and Melissa Clonts leading the charge.
“As we think about where we want to go in the city, we want to open studios that fit well within people’s daily lives and routines. The residential community around Columbus Circle is a big part of what drew us to the area,” Justin Clonts told Whatnow New York City.
Clonts discovered Pilates while recovering from a shoulder injury.
“I figured pilates might be a good way to stay active and work on recovery and hopefully prevent similar injuries in the future. I really noticed a lot of changes and strength in areas and muscles that I hadn’t previously worked. I became a believer in pilates,” he said.
The new studio will mark JETSET Modern Pilates’ sixth Manhattan location and the fifth operated by Clonts.
Tamara Galinsky founded the brand in 2010. After discovering a passion for Pilates, trying multiple studios, and craving a new challenge, she incorporated everything she learned into the concept and opened the studio.
The class delivers an immersive, 50-minute full-body workout on a reformer.
A reformer is a specialized Pilates machine with a sliding carriage, adjustable springs, straps and a footbar to provide resistance during exercise. The equipment supports a variety of low-impact movements designed to build strength, improve flexibility, enhance balance and develop core stability.
For first-timers, Clonts recommends taking advantage of the introductory offer and trying a regular class.
“All our instructors are trained to accommodate people, whether it’s their first time or 100th class. They offer modifications; you can either amplify or fit a specific move to whatever your need is,” he said.
Clonts looks forward to growing JETSET Modern Pilates’ presence across the city.
“I’m especially excited to expand beyond our downtown locations and bring JETSET farther uptown. This studio will make it easier for people who live nearby to experience the concept without having to travel downtown,” he said.
The team plans to open the studio in spring 2027. Visit the JETSET Modern Pilates website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates.
