Philadelphia luxury retailer Boyds is set to open the doors of its new store in Wayne, PA on Wednesday, September 21 with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony that kicks off at 1 p.m.
Boyds Wayne, located at 201 W. Lancaster Ave., is the second permanent location for the fourth-generation, family-owned business whose flagship store has been in Center City Philadelphia for 84 years. The expansion into the Main Line means shoppers will have access to designer and contemporary fashion. “We are most excited to service our existing clients who might find Wayne more convenient and also to build relationships with new ones who aren’t currently shopping with us in Center City,” said CEO Kent Gushner in a statement.
Boyds Wayne is housed in the 1931 Art Deco building that was the home of the E.B. Maguire Ford dealership that later became the world’s first Anthropologie store. The 11,000 square-foot structure underwent a transformative renovation and re-design over the summer. Led by Philadelphia architectural firm Canno Design, the new suburban outpost will feature fashion and accessories by 250 designers from around the world including Alexander McQueen, Christian Louboutin, and Jacquemus for women’s, plus Brunello Cucinelli, Isaia, and Zegna for men’s.
This comes just as the fashion world gears up for the latest fall styles and emerges from Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. “People are getting dressed up again,” explained Andrew Gushner, fourth generation clothier.
“In addition, expect to see elevated fashion including eveningwear and special occasions, and don’t forget about our expert tailoring department that provides complimentary alterations as well as 35 free parking spots right outside,” said Missy Dietz, director of business development. “But most importantly, clients will find the same world-class attention to customer service for which the original, iconic Boyds in Center City is famous.”
Boyds Wayne will be open Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
