A brand new restaurant, The Victorian at Hill Street, is set to open in one of San Diego’s original 2,500 Victorian homes located in Oceanside at 524 S. Coast Hwy.

This new dining establishment is the latest venture from Emily and David Rassel, who also operate Pour House in South Oceanside and Frankie’s next to The Brick Hotel, according to San Diego Magazine. The Victorian at Hill Street will open in the former location of Le Citron, with plans to welcome customers in Spring 2025. Chef Juan Armando from Mesa Agricola will oversee the menu, while Trippe Interiors will handle the renovations, maintaining many of the original features of the historic space.

The Victorian will offer seasonal California shared plates made with wholesome, locally sourced ingredients. When it opens later this year, customers can look forward to approximately 70 outdoor seats on a double-tiered, heated porch, a small indoor dining area and bar, and a brick courtyard with more seating. The Rassels also plan to introduce a casual gourmet sandwich menu from Staci Miller of The Millers Table and hope to launch a weekday lunch and weekend brunch by this summer.

“The Victorian at Hill Street offers an intimate dining experience where worldly cuisine blends with the historic charm of this space,” according to the company’s website. “Locals find nostalgic comfort, while newcomers are drawn to its warmth and allure. Each visit fosters inclusion, romance, and a sense of community that defines this beloved gathering spot.”
