Longtime neighborhood dive bar Lucy’s is making a comeback in the East Village. Renovation activity has been taking place at 135 Avenue A, reports EV Grieve.

Lucy’s has been closed since November 2023 and has seen a long road toward reopening since then. Golden Age Hospitality, led by Jon Neidich, took over the space with plans to reopen the neighborhood spot, filing for a liquor license last year. The group announced plans to keep original owner Ludwika “Lucy” Mickevicius involved in the project.

This week, Lucy’s posted an announcement on its Instagram page, sharing that the project is finally returning soon to the space. The Instagram page describes it as an “iconic and legendary bar.”

“After a long road, Lucy’s is almost back!” the announcement states.

Lucy’s originally closed due to rent increases.

Golden Age Hospitality currently has three new projects in the works, according to its website. It is behind other New York City concepts such as The Nines, ACME, Le Dive, Deux Chats and Happiest Hour.

As of now, an official reopening date has not been announced, but updates are expected soon.
