Shadrachs Coffee, a bourgeoning drive-thru cafe concept, is set to make its Memphis area debut around July or August, with a location that’s opening at 8906 US-64 in Lakeland, according to franchisee Jonathan Penn.
“We pride ourselves in being really fast, really kind, and also serving a really good product, and we think if we do those three things well, that people will leave our shop in the morning – or whenever they come through to get their drink – just filled for the day,” Penn tells What Now Memphis. “It’s going to be easier to do their job, easier to be kind, easier to work hard, and easier to be a friend when you have a day that starts well.”
Simply put, Shadrachs offers up “fuel for the soul,” and that’s what Penn plans on “diving into and focusing on,” as they open up the shop.
Shardrachs Coffee was founded in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 2004, and has since grown its footprint to nearly 15 locations spread throughout its home territory and into neighboring Paragould and Conway, as well as Oxford, Mississippi.
As a drive-thru-centric concept, the company has been able to hone its business practices to ensure that folks get in and out in a timely manner.
Penn likens the drive-thru to that which is found at Chick-fil-A, with the baristas taking orders using iPads from customers in the cars, as the company understands that face-to-face interaction and personal touch make for better customer service. What’s more, thanks to a two-lane system, smaller orders can be expedited, again, in an effort to save people time.
“Say you ordered just one drink and the car in front of you orders 10, well we can get you your one drink so you can leave the drive-thru line while that customer in front of you waits for their multi-drink order – just to respect people’s time and get them on their way as fast as we can,” explains Penn.
Shadrachs’ menu is split into two distinct categories. The classic menu includes reliable cafe standbys such as drip coffee and americanos, cold brew and nitro, and espresso-based favorites, as well as energy drinks, lemonade, smoothies, milkshakes, mocha shakes, teas, matcha, decaf options, and a selection for kids.
Meanwhile, its “Secret Menu” offers more ambitious concoctions, like the Brownie Batter, Campfire Mocha, En Fuego – prepared with a whopping six shots of espresso – Lavender Haze, and a slate of seasonal creations.
