5332 North Cumberland Street is to see a newly renovated China Kitchen according to an permit application filed last month with the City of Chicago.

Currently closed, the reopening date for the eatery is yet to be announced. “Due to the renovation, our restaurant will be temporarily closed until further notice. Sorry for your inconvenience,” China Kitchen wrote on its website. “We are working day and night to make the process as quick as possible.”

As outlined in the permit application the Chinese take-out joint will see an interior renovation and architectural changes to the restaurant, though the outside will remain the same.

The existing China Kitchen operation offers Chinese take-out classics like steamed dumplings and chicken broccoli beef.

Owner Mandy Xu did not provide comment on the plans for renovation when contacted by What Now Chicago on Friday.
