Local franchise owners are preparing to open another location of the fast-casual restaurant Zaxby’s, this time coming to Gainesville at 7300 W. Newberry Rd.

BSBC Go Gators LLC recently submitted a plan review application to the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation to open a new Zaxby’s. This will be the ownership group’s 12th location and first in Gainesville. The franchise owners are Shaun Morris and Boris Ochsenius, who both worked for Zaxby’s as teenagers, and Blake and Cotton Fletcher. The new restaurant is expected to open in February 2024, according to the Gainesville Sun.

Before deciding to enter Alachua County, BSBC Go Gators LLC focused its locations on Orange, Osceola, and Pinellas Counties. All sites feature a variety of chicken wings, chicken fingers, sandwiches, and salads. The chain operates primarily in the Southern United States and has more than 900 locations, most of which are franchised. Out of all the locations, the restaurant only has 123 corporate-owned sites.

Last month, Zaxby’s opened a new location in Jacksonville, Florida, at 3175 New Berlin Road, owned and operated by New Berlin JASZ, Inc. To celebrate its opening on October 23, the restaurant gave away free Zaxby’s for a year to the first 100 guests in line. The promotion was a decision from the franchise owner, so it’s unknown if the Gainesville site will have any special events such as this one. The opening comes amid the brand’s recent push into new flavor territory with its latest limited-time offer—the Fried Chicken Philly. This was the 13th Zaxby’s restaurant in the Jacksonville area.
