Starbucks continues to expand throughout Northeast Florida; this time, the company is working on a new location in Jacksonville at 12645 Beach Blvd.
The Seattle-based company recently submitted civil engineering plans to open a new location at northeast Beach and Kernan boulevards next to Shipley Do-Nuts in the Tamaya Market Shopping Center, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. While the city is still reviewing the plans, Starbucks proposes opening a 2,827-square-foot restaurant with 46 seats inside and 30 patio seats. This opening has no exact timeline, but it will likely be sometime next year.
This is just the latest development from one of the country’s most popular coffee brands. In the past few months, Starbucks has shown great interest in northeast Florida, announcing a new location to Beachwalk, a mixed-use development off County Road 210 in St. Johns County. The company has also announced that it is investing more than $2.5 million in at least five locations in the area. Earlier this month, the company proposed to renovate a location in Riverside at 1650 Margaret St.
This will be an excellent location for the company, although there are about five other Starbucks within a five-mile radius. The new location will sit next to the Tamaya Market shopping center anchored by Sprouts Farmers Market and across the street from the Kernan Square Shopping Mall anchored by Publix Super Market. On top of Shipley Do-Nuts, Starbucks will have to compete with Jacksonville Coffee Company across the street.
