According to owner Jose Vargas Orozco, a new Eastside location is slated to open for La Jalisciense Detroit. The casual restaurant and market will be located at 16703 East Warren Avenue in a 1935 brick building in East English Village. The spot will occupy a 2,000-square foot, ground-floor storefront.
La Jalisciense is known as an authentic Mexican restaurant and bar connected to the brick-and-mortar market that started it all. It has been operating since 2010 at its original location at 3923 West Vernon Highway and is now looking to expand to East English Village to bring authentic Mexican goods and cuisine to the Eastside.
What Now Detroit contacted Orozco on Thursday, but he was unable to make a full comment on the new venture. Whether there will be menu changes or differences in the market and restaurant model is unknown at the time.
The current menu at the restaurant offers aguas frescas, classic Mexican dishes like chiles rellenos, along with other well-known Mexican favorites like tacos, and burritos. The connected market has a host of Mexican dried goods, a butcher counter, and different candies imported from Mexico.
The opening date of the new location is currently undisclosed at this time.
