A closed-down Wendy’s will get some remodeling and be turned into a chain restaurant that is prominent in the city named American Deli, according to Memphis permits.

Franchisee Dae Shin wrote in his application for a certificate of occupancy that he plans to remodel countertops and paint both the inside and the outside of the building. According to real estate records, the space, located at 2221 Frayser Boulevard, is 2,694 square feet. According to permit, the renovations will cost about $25,000.

The latest American Deli will be situated in a largely residential area of northern Memphis, next to other fast-food joints like Burger King and Taco Bell.

American Deli’s have over 200 locations nationwide, including 12 in Greater Memphis alone, and over 60 stores in Atlanta, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. The franchise offers subs, salads, gyros, burgers, wings, fried rice, seafood, and more.

What Now Memphis reported the opening of another American Deli last year at Davis Colonial Village Shopping Center in East Memphis by franchisee Ken Shin. That building underwent an interior renovation that cost around $180,000.

What Now Memphis has reached out to Dae Shin for additional information.
