A hotly anticipated pasta concept is taking a slight detour in its journey to feed Ballston diners. Scolapasta, originally slated to open this summer in a 4219 Fairfax Drive storefront, has shifted course and will now be opening in Ballston Quarter, reports local media outlet ARLNow.

Owner Burak Temel has signed a lease to join the 4238 Wilson Boulevard food court. Locals won’t have to wait too long to design and devour their dream pasta plate; Scolapasta has 90 days from the signing of the lease to open its new location.

Temel founded Scolapasta with the intention of making, functionally, the carbohydrate version of Chipotle. Guests get to select their preferred pasta, sauces, and toppings.

Temel believes Scolapasta’s Ballston Quarter home will have a greater reach than the previously planned storefront. He states: ““Ballston Quarter is a more vibrant, I’d say, diverse environment, with all with vendors from all over the world. That’s the concept that they go for…We’re going to have an enhanced overall experience — more families and more room to sit and wander around. That’s kind of why the decision was made.”

Scolapasta currently has its flagship location open in McLean. The concept has expansion on the mind, with storefronts in development in Bethesda Row and Georgetown.
