After 45 years of memories, music, and margaritas, El Noa Noa Mexican Restaurant has officially closed its doors — but its story isn’t ending. According to Newsbreak, the iconic restaurant at 722 Santa Fe Drive will soon welcome a new tenant: El Chingon.
The owners announced the closure on the eatery’s website, stating, “Our patrons, who filled our tables on first dates, anniversary dinners, milestone celebrations, and made those First Fridays so electric — you have been the heart and soul of this amazing journey, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We also wanted to give a huge thank you to our incredible staff for all the hard work, late nights, and the fun we shared during our holiday celebrations.”
Another local family-run Mexican eatery, El Chingon, was first opened in 2010 by the late Gloria Nunez in an Arvada strip mall, later relocating to Berkeley’s Tennyson Street and eventually one on Central in LoHi. Gloria’s grandson, Chef David Lopez, has since partnered with Lorenzo Nunez Jr. to expand the concept.
Last year, the business opened an outlet at Denver International Airport, as covered by What Now Denver. This new location, in the heart of the Santa Fe Arts District, has a wonderful patio area and is in a prime spot for the busy First Friday art walks.
No opening date has been announced yet, and the company did not respond to the publication’s requests for comment.
