A new agave bar Mixteca will be part of a new crop of concepts slated to open this summer at One Cornelia in West Village, courtesy of the team behind East Village cocktail bar Please Don’t Tell.
Victor Lopez, a longtime bartender for Please Don’t Tell, will be operating the concept. The ground-floor spot will have 45 seats and a menu centered around tequila, mezcal and racillia, according to reporting by Eater NY.
Jeff Bell, co-owner of Please Don’t Tell, is helming the entire venture at One Cornelia. He has tapped Los Angeles-based taco spot Tacos 1986 as the food element of the multi-concept project, as previously reported by What Now New York. Tacos 1986 serves Tijuana-style tacos as well as quesadillas, burritos, bowls and more. The taco spot’s food menu is expected to complement Mixteca’s drink offerings.
Please Don’t Tell has been open in the East Village inside Crif Dogs since 2007. Bell has been with the cocktail bar since 2010, according to his LinkedIn page. He has also worked as a beverage consultant for brands like JetBlue and Waldorf Astoria New York.
One Cornelia is expected to open this summer, according to its website. What Now New York has reached out for additional details but did not hear back prior to the time of publication.
