The established Golden Donuts shop will be taking over Willie’s Donuts which is set to close in a few days.
In a recent article from Detroit Free Press, it was reported that Golden Donuts will be taking the space at 23055 21 Mile Road. This is set to close on June 29, and there is not an estimated date of opening for the new shop.
Golden Donuts has been around since 1989 and has two locations at 34155 Harper in Clinton Township and 17804 Thirteen Mile Road in Roseville. The shop is known for having over 50 different types of donuts, selling them in boxes and individually.
The closure is a tough one for Willie’s Donuts owners Lori Goss and Perry Joerin. Two two have operated the business since 2012 but decided it was time to close. Golden Donuts recently took to Facebook to announce their new location in Macomb.
“We’re honored to carry on the tradition in this amazing community and want to give a HUGE shoutout to the previous owners for all their hard work and dedication,” says the Facebook post. It also says the business will be selling the same donuts.
Along with donuts, the shop has sold paczki donuts in the past, recognizing the Fat Tuesday holiday. Also sold inside are fountain drinks, along with merchandise.
The hours for the Macomb shop have not been released. What Now Detroit has reached out to the owner of Golden Donuts, and more details will follow in the future.
