A century-old Denver landmark is being brought back to life after spending much of the last 50 years empty. The Federal Theatre — a 650-seat Art Deco venue at 3830 Federal Blvd. — is set to reopen in September 2025 following new ownership taking over, Westword reports.
The facility will now be under the stewardship of Scott Happel, Peter Ore, and Andy Bercaw, the same team behind the Oriental Theater and HQ on South Broadway. They expect to reopen the business — which has not operated as a public venue since the 1970s — in September, according to the Denver Gazette.
It will feature a wide range of entertainment and genres, including music, comedy, podcasts, wrestling, burlesque, and dance shows. In preparation for opening, the owners have launched opportunities to sign up for the Founders Club, offering exclusive merch, perks, and prints of the venue by Denver painter Andre Lippard, its website states.
The building’s signature neon marquee will be restored as part of the revitalization. Plans have already cleared zoning and use approvals, and the business is finalizing its liquor license. A Denver-based artist will be announced as the headliner for the opening show soon.
